Highlights of Bolton Wanderers 2-2 Blackpool: Trotters one goal shy of playoffs

Stu Forster

When all was said and done at the Reebok Stadium, it was a pretty bitter pill for Bolton Wanderers fans to swallow. An awful start for the men in white coupled with an incredible comeback was not enough to take the Trotters to the playoffs as they would see their season end with a 2-2 draw against Blackpool.

Matty Phillips opened the scoring on the 20 minute mark thanks to a simply lovely bit of interplay at the edge of the box. The quick passing move put the winger in space and his finish, placed in the top corner, was unstoppable by Adam Bogdan.

Ludovic Sylvestre would double the Seasiders' advantage some 15 minutes later, side-footing Neal Eardley's cross on the volley low and into the bottom corner at the far post.

In first-half stoppage time, following Dougie's decision to admit his mistake and introduce Marvin Sordell in place of Robert Hall, Bolton would find their impetus. Marcos Alonso found Chris Eagles at the edge of the area and the winger's sumptuous effort found its way into the top corner of Matt Gilks' net.

Two minutes later, Craig Davies would level matters thanks to his shot, also from the edge of the box. His effort took a wicked deflection before dribbling into the back of the net at the near post, past a wrong-footed Gilks.

If you were not at the Reebok, here are the highlights for you:

As a bonus, be sure to take a look at the save Adam Bogdan made on Ludovic Sylvestre's effort near the end of the match, denying Blackpool a win and (at that moment) keeping Bolton well within a playoff spot.
