The Jermaine Beckford signing is imminent. The saga has gone on for more than two months, after Wanderers first inquired about the player in the week following the season's last game. The fee was agreed and then thrown out and the player apparently had a medical with Bolton before the move hit the rocks. However, it now looks like that the Beckford deal will be done in the next few days, making the striker Bolton's seventh signing of the summer.
Chairman Phil Gartside made an appearance on BBC Radio Manchester (via the Bolton News) earlier in the day and spoke about Bolton's summer signings with Beckford the main topic:
"We have got one more at least, who we will announce very shortly, then it is a case of settling down and see where we go for the first few weeks of the season.
"We had a bit of a hiccup on Jermaine Beckford but we have probably sorted it out now.
"Jermaine will join us in the next couple of days."
Gartside went on to add that this would likely be Wanderers' last signing before the season starts despite indications that Dougie Freedman still wants to bring another winger in. Jermaine Beckford would join Marc Tierney, Alex Baptiste, Hayden White, Conor Wilkinson, Rob Hall, and Gary Fraser as the Trotters' new boys with young goalkeeper Erik Bukran still rumored.
