Bolton Wanderers confirm Gary Fraser signing

Matthew Lewis

A little more than a week after the fact, Bolton Wanderers have finally confirmed the signing of young Scottish midfielder Gary Fraser. As you may recall, Wanderers originally agreed a deal for the player back in the January transfer window but Fraser, apparently homesick, cancelled and return to Hamilton Academical. He would spend the rest of the season with the side before agreeing to cancel his contract at the end of the season.

Wanderers have snapped the 19-year-old up on a free transfer and have handed him a two year contract. Fraser made his Bolton debut on Wednesday night in a development squad friendly against Skemersdale that Bolton would ultimately win 1-0 thanks to a Josh Vela penalty. The Scot wasn't the only debutant, as surprise striker Morgan Ferrier also appeared in a Bolton shirt.

Initial rumors had Fraser immediately returning to Scotland with a loan to Partick Thistle (who he had a trial with) but there is no confirmation or denial on that front at the moment.
