Following Bolton's comfortable 1-3 win at Shrewsbury Town in the First Round of the Capital One Cup, Wanderers were drawn with Tranmere Rovers. The Second Round tie had a general date on which it would have been played but had not yet been confirmed for any specific time slot. That has now changed with Bolton Wanderers officially announcing that the match will be played at Prenton Park on Tuesday, the 27th of August (three days after the Queens Park Rangers match) with a 7:45 pm local kickoff.
The two sides last faced off one year ago in a pre-season friendly at Prenton Park. Wanderers won that match by a score of 1-3 with Benik Afobe (somehow) managing all three goals. The last time the two teams faced off in meaningful competition was in the 2009/10 installment of the League Cup, when they met in the second round at Tranmere's ground (a bit of deja vu going on here). Bolton won that one narrowly by a score of 0-1, with Mark Davies scoring the lone goal.
