So the first gameweek of the new Fantasy Football season has come to an end with the game between Manchester City and Newcastle United.

The Lion of Vienna Suite Fantasy League saw some fantastic high scores and some shambolic low scores, notably from this writer. A terrific response from the community has meant that we have a large league of 136 teams in this inaugural season, and we're very grateful for all your support.

Leading the way at the start of the season in the league is Matthew Best, manager of BestFC who scored a terrific 83 points. Matthew wisely chose Liverpool keeper Simon Mignolet, who scored 15pts, as well as ex-Bolton Wanderers midfielder Kevin Nolan (11pts) and team captain Robin Van Persie of Manchester United, whose two goals against Swansea doubled up to a high of 24 points.

In close second place is Ian Bridge, manager of White Lightning (80pts), with Rob Norris and Chris Bentley, managers of Rob's Randomers and Athletico Getrid respectively holding onto third spot, both having scored 75 points.

Bringing up the rear in 136th place on 21 points is Thomas Balcombe, manager of Wondering Wanderers, with my own team Schrute Farms only tallying a pathetic 31 points in Gameweek 1.

Team of the Week:

Simon Mignolet (Liverpool) 15pts

Seamus Coleman (Everton) 13pts, Luke Shaw (Southampton) 12pts, Steven Whittaker (Norwich City) 11pts

Oscar (Chelsea) 11pts, Joe Cole (West Ham United) 11pts, Kevin Nolan (West Ham United) 11pts, Pajtim Kasami (Fulham) 10pts

Danny Welbeck (Manchester United) 13pts, Robin Van Persie (Manchester United) 12pts, Sergio Aguero (Manchester City) 12pts

We will keep you updated as the season progresses, with Manager of the Month awards being announced via the Lion of Vienna Suite website.
