Bradford City linked with loan move for Tom Eaves

Paul Thomas

The loan window for Football League clubs is open and like Bolton Wanderers, others are trying to reinforce or better their squads. The Trotters have not yet been busy and will not be ahead of the weekend but a new report from SportsDirect News has linked a Bolton man with a temporary move away from the Reebok Stadium

The report has said that Bradford City have beaten Shrewsbury Town to the Tom Eaves punch after Shrews had chased the striker for a second loan stint. The Bantams have taken 11 points from six matches to start the season in League One after winning promotion through the play-offs at the end of last season. A move like this will free up funds for Dougie Freedman but whether or not it is enough for the manager to reasonably reinvest in a loan signing of his own remains to be seen.

If Tom Eaves goes out on loan again, it will be his third time out in the last year. Eaves spent three months on loan at League Two's Bristol Rovers to start the season, making 17 appearances for the Gas in the league and the FA Cup. He managed seven goals and three assists in that stretch. Later that season, in February, Eaves moved up a league to Shrewsbury Town. He would make ten appearances for Shrews, scoring six goals in the process, including a memorable hat trick.

As with any rumor, take it with however many grains of salt that you want. SportsDirect News also seem to think that Bradford City are managed by former Bolton Wanderers player and Middlesbrough great, Gary Parkinson.
