Official: Cardiff City's Kevin McNaughton joins Bolton for one month

Michael Steele

The second of Bolton Wanderers' two brand new loan signings has now been confirmed with the experienced Kevin McNaughton joining the Trotters for just one month on loan from Cardiff City. McNaughton is a very versatile defender who plays primarily as a right back but can play in the center and on the left, much like Alex Baptiste. Whether this forces a positional switch for the current Bolton fullback remains to be seen.

The loan will last 28 days, ending on the 26th of October, following Bolton's home match against Ipswich Town.

McNaughton is currently Cardiff City's longest-serving player, having made more than 280 appearances in all competitions for the Bluebirds/Red Dragons since joining the Welsh side in 2006 from Aberdeen. A regular starter in all of his previous seasons at Cardiff, McNaughton lost his starting spot to new signing Kevin Theophile-Catherine, who joined the Premier League side on transfer deadline day.

McNaughton has made just two appearances thus far this season, both of which came in the Capital One Cup.
