Georg Iliev signs first pro deal at Bolton

Congrats to the young Bulgarian forward

News has emerged that Bolton youth teamer and former CSKA Sofia youngster Georg Iliev today signed his first professional contract at Bolton Wanderers.

He joined the club in 2011 as part of the Owen Coyle revolution of the previously-underperforming youth setup.

As per the club website:

Iliev's most notable moment in a Bolton shirt so far arguably came the third round of the FA Youth Cup against Oxford in 2012.

In stoppage time, Iliev flung himself in the air to fire home a spectacular bicycle kick to seal victory at the Kassam Stadium.

Iliev has signed an 18 month contract at the Reebok Stadium and joins the likes of fellow youth team striker Tom Youngs and midfielder Chris Lester in turning professional under the watchful eye of the likes of David Lee and Tony Kelly.

We wish Georg all the best, especially as we can't remember any other Bulgarians having played for the club before (deliberate joke about the ineffectual Martin Petrov).
