So the transfer deadline is 11pm tonight, and Bolton Wanderers are yet to bring in significant signings (Yannick Bastos and Lukas Jutkiewicz aside) to strengthen the first team.
Time is running out for manager Dougie Freedman to bring in new faces - so I thought I'd take a look at a few signings that the club have made on Deadline Day in the past years since it was introduced to English football in the 2002/03 season:

A notorious signing made when Bolton lay in 3rd place at Christmas, primed for a run at the Champions League. The story goes that former manager Sam Allardyce wanted £10m to invest in the squad and make an effort to qualify in the top three. Instead he was given a former Liverpool and Blackburn midfielder who, whilst eager enough, didn't possess the quality needed to push Bolton on. We eventually finished in 7th place, qualifying for the UEFA Cup. |

Huge risk at the time, but proved money well spent by Gary Megson as Cahill provided stability, reliability and class for Bolton over his four years at the club. Signed for Chelsea for a £7m fee in 2012. |

Signed to much fanfare by Owen Coyle. Struggled for form and suffered with homesickness, barely making an appearance in his first season. Sent out on loan to Charlton in 2013/14 by Dougie Freedman where he has made minimal impression. |

Signed for the Development Squad following a successful loan at Bristol Rovers. Now captains the Dev Squad and has been on the bench for the first team from time to time. Highly thought of at the club. |

A combative midfielder with Champions League experience he initially proved to be a valuable addition to the side. Form tailed off in the 2013/14 season and found himself in and out of the side accordingly. One of our better players on his day. |
