Bolton Wanderers' summer transfer plans have been accelerated today with the arrival of Millwall midfielder Liam Trotter.

The player was in manager Dougie Freedman's sights for the end of the season, when he was due to be out of contract, but talks between the two clubs on Thursday brought the deal forward.

The Ipswich-born midfield battler has signed for Wanderers on loan until the end of the season, when a nominal fee will see him switch to Bolton on a permanent basis.

He has been allocated the no.17 shirt, which was previously worn by fan favourite Ivan Klasnic as well as donkey Benik Afobe who has just joined Sheffield Wednesday.

Trotter has made 125 appearances for Millwall, scoring 22 goals. His career has also seen him take in spells at Grimsby Town and Scunthorpe United.

He will come straight into the squad to face former club Ipswich Town, where he began his career, this weekend.
