As reported last week, former Barcelona, Chelsea and Bolton Wanderers forward Eidur Gudjohnsen has been training at Euxton with Neil Lennon's squad in the hope of earning a contract with the Championship side.
However, it appears that news of the 36 year old Icelandic forward's availability on a free transfer could scupper Wanderers' efforts to re-sign the forward who made 54 appearances between 1998 and 2000, scoring 19 goals before moving to the bright lights of Chelsea and the Premier League for a miserly £4m.
Speaking to the Bolton Evening News, manager Neil Lennon addressed rumours that Wanderers faced competition for his signature:
"It wouldn't surprise me,"
"I just think that the fact he wants to still keep playing on is impressive.
He continued:
"He has had a break and come back looking very fresh. He's integrated really well.
"All that is left to do is assess where he is up to - but how do you assess Eidur Gudjohnsen? You know what I mean, we'll have a good look at him."
Don't let him slip through your fingers Neil, don't you dare.
