Good call - I can totes see the similiarities

Speaking to the Bolton News, Wanderers boss Neil Lennon has compared new signing Eidur Gudjohnsen to Chelsea legend Frank Lampard, now plying his trade at Manchester City.

Comparing the impact that the player has made to City to the move made by Bolton Wanderers to re-sign the Icelandic forward, Lennon said:

"Frank's playing for Man City and he's played for Chelsea - the big teams,"

He continued:

"We're not a big team in the Championship but we're hoping that Eidur can have an impact here"

He then went on to say:

"I played in the Champions League when I was 36 and I wasn't as fit as some of these guys. It can be done. I don't see age as a major problem. I just look at the footballer and what he can bring to the team. Eidur brings a lot of quality to us."

The age of 36 is no longer a genuine barrier to quality, as Lampard as shown this season when he was written off by some following his move to New York City.

Let's hope our mate Eidur can have a similar impact at Wanderers.
