Neil Lennon has a very clear idea of what he wants his team to do and how he wants them to do it. That single-mindedness has been reflected in the players since he arrived. I have to imagine that in the training sessions leading up to each match the specificity of Lennon's goals are drilled into them until it is second nature. Therefore, it had to be difficult this week not knowing who would be available to start at forward for Bolton Wanderers. Would Craig Davies pass his fitness test? Would Emile Heskey get international clearance? Could Eidur Gudjohnsen handle leading the line again?
Well, now the teams are out, and we can see exactly what Mr. Lennon is looking for:
Bolton Wanderers | Blackburn Rovers |
GK: Andy Lonergan D: Josh Vela D: Matt Mills D: Dorian Dervite D: Tim Ream M: Liam Feeney M: Darren Pratley M: Neil Danns M: Rob Hall F: Eidur Gudjohnsen
|
GK: Jason Steele D: Adam Henley D: Grant Hanley D: Shane Duffy D: Marcus Olsson M: Tom Cairney M: Corry Evans M: Ryan Tunnicliffe M: Ben Marshall F: Joshua King F: Jordan Rhodes |
Bolton substitutes: Adam Bogdan, Dean Moxey, Jay Spearing, Liam Trotter, David Wheater, Zach Clough, Emile Heskey
Blackburn substitutes: Simon Eastwood, Mathew Kilgallon, David Dunn, Luke Varney, Lee Williamson, Craig Conway, Rudy Gestede
And there we have it folks! What do you think of the teams? What do you think of our chances? And, of course, Happy Boxing Day!
