Craig Davies had his worst game under Neil Lennon against Reading FC on Saturday. He just wasn't very involved, and the manager replaced him with young Conor Wilkinson in the 57th minute. It turns out Mr. Davies had some tightness in his hamstring, and the substitution was what Mr. Lennon called a "precautionary measure."
Wilkinson actually did a decent job, and his partnership with Max Clayton caused Reading some trouble. However, Davies has been a major contributor to Bolton Wanderers' revival under Lennon, and it would be shame to lose him at this point, right before a big match against second in the table Ipswich Town.
There is another replacement on hand. Eidur Gudjohnsen did not get his International clearance in time to feature at the Madejski Stadium on Saturday, but he will certainly be available for next weekend's encounter. It is unlikely that Gudjohnsen could last ninety minutes, and he will not cover anywhere near as much ground as Davies. After all, the Wales international is 9 years younger than his counterpart from Iceland. But when it comes to class, creativity, and technical ability, there really is no comparison.
We will eagerly await any updates from the club throughout the week.
