UPDATED: Hutton has officially signed for Bolton Wanderers on a 1-month loan deal.
It is being widely reported today that Dougie Freedman will end his frustrating search for a loan defender with the signing of Aston Villa's Scottish international right-back Alan Hutton.
29 year old Hutton, is a former Rangers, Tottenham, Sunderland, Nottingham Forest and Mallorca player, having left Scotland for London in an £8m deal in 2008. His time in England has been mixed, suffering more lows than highs of late.
He has has been out of the Villa side for the whole season, following his return from a spell on loan with Real Mallorca in Spain where he performed well in a struggling side.
The deal for Hutton was being finalised on Thursday night as the clubs sorted out how to split his £40,000-a-week salary between them.
Bolton Wanderers are in desperate need of defensive reinforcements, as they are down to the bare bones at the back and their squad overall is stretched by a spate of blows, most recently to first-choice centre half Matt Mills.
