Bolton Wanderers have this morning announced that six academy players have been released from the club upon the expiry of their contracts.
Academy lads Sam Bailey, Elliot Newby, Jordan Hendrie, Guillermo Torres, Saul Hamer and James Kelly will not have their current contracts extended and will leave the club.
The players have been released without making a single senior first-team appearance for the club, although they were regulars at u18 and u21 level.
The release of Spanish striker Torres is a particular surprise given his positive form for the youth teams this season, along with Kelly who arrived at the club from Wycombe Wanderers in a development deal in 2012.
Bailey, Newby, Hendrie and Hamer have been at the club for a considerable amount of time but have not done enough to earn a new contract.
We all of course wish them the very best for their future careers and offer thanks for their efforts whilst at Bolton Wanderers.
