Bolton Miss Out on Juke Deal

Where now for Bolton Wanderers?!

Ross Kinnaird

Bolton Wanderers have lost out to richer competition from Premier League side Burnley in the race to sign former Middlesbrough striker Lukas Jutkiewicz.

As has been mooted lately, the recently-promoted Clarets have blown Wanderers out of the water with a £1.5m bid with add-ons potentially taking the total deal to £2.25m.

Juke was allegedly manager Dougie Freedman's top transfer target this summer, and the failure to capture the Southampton-born forward means that the club will have to rely upon Craig Davies and Jermaine Beckford ahead of the new season, at least until further reinforcements have been found.

Jutkiewicz started his career at Swindon Town, turning pro in 2006, before taking in spells with Everton, Motherwell, Plymouth Argyle, Huddersfield Town and Coventry City before rocking up at Middlesbrough in 2012.

He made 20 appearances for Bolton Wanderers, scoring 7 goals.
