GOSSIP: Joe Mason to Rejoin Bolton?

Loaning the loanee again. Long-term planning at it's best

Clint Hughes

Our friends at the BEN are tonight reporting that Bolton Wanderers and manager Dougie Freedman are one of several clubs hoping to sign Cardiff City striker Joe Mason on loan ahead of the upcoming Championship season.

23 year old Mason, who scored 6 goals in 16 appearances whilst on loan at Wanderers last season, is well down the pecking order at Cardiff, and the BEN believes that at least two other Championship clubs believed to be in the reckoning for the former Republic of Ireland Under-21 international.

Mason, who did so well in tandem with fellow loanee Lukas Jutkiewicz, was an unmitigated disaster during his first loan at Bolton last season, but showed the talent that he undoubtedly possesses when he was paired with Jutkiewicz for the second half of the campaign.

Wanderers are struggling for striker options at this moment in time, with only the disappointing Craig Davies and the underwhelming Jermaine Beckford currently amongst the senior forwards. Academy lads Conor Wilkinson and Zach Clough are around to make up the numbers though of course are without significant experience.
