Ex-Wanderer Lands First Coaching Job in Qatar

We hardly knew ye

As the above tweet explains - ex-Bolton Wanderers, Stoke City and Middlesbrough man Tuncay Sanli has landed his first coaching job at Qatari Stars League outfit Umm Salal.

Tuncay, who retired from football recently following his release from Turkish side Bursaspor, made 16 appearances without scoring in what was a frustrating loan spell at Bolton in 2011. Despite there being a provision to make the loan permanent, the deal was cancelled due to his poor form and the club's declining finances.

The Qatari club, best known for being the first Qatari club to make it to the semi-finals of the AFC Asian Champions League, finished 7th last season and count former Arsenal striker Jeremie Aliadiere amongst their ranks, with former Barcelona coach Henk ten Cate and former Portsmouth boss Alain Perrin amongst their former managers.
