Bolton Wanderers away to Chelsea in Capital One Cup!

It's an away payda…er, I mean, match for Bolton in the Capital One Cup.

Hello old friend.
Hello old friend.
Srdjan Stevanovic

There is a habit among football fans of making a statement that is 100% opinion and then proclaiming "Fact!"  An example; "Liam Trotter is the worst midfielder I have ever seen.  Fact!"  I find this a mildly annoying trait, but nothing to get too fired up about.  That said, sometimes you can state an opinion, follow it by exclaiming "fact," and not be wrong.  An example; "Bolton Wanderers did not deserve to be in the hat for the Capital One Cup third round draw.  Fact!"

Go ahead, argue with me.  I dare you.

Hyperbole aside, the fact is that Bolton were in the third round draw, and they were drawn away to Chelsea.  We haven't been to Stamford Bridge in a few years, and I am sure it will be nice to renew acquaintances.  There is good and bad to this draw.  The good: A big, fat cheque.  The bad: A hammering at the hands of a footballing giant.

But who knows.  Maybe a return to Premier League environs will jog the memory.  Perhaps the likes of Jermaine Beckford, Mark Davies, Chung-Yong Lee, Tim Ream, and David Wheater will flashback to the days of glory.  Maybe they will recall their true talent level.  Maybe the Mighty Bolton Wanderers, who have lain dormant for so long, will rekindle the flame of footballers past.  Maybe we will claim an almighty scalp, and it will be just the spark we need to renew a sense of purpose, a sense of belonging, and a promotion push.  Maybe, this is just what Bolton Wanderers need!

But seriously, someone put ten quid on 6-0 to Chelsea for me.
