Officially official: Owen Garvan joins Bolton Wanderers on 3-month loan

Crystal Palace were rumored to be letting Owen Garvan leave on loan, and the Macron was the likely destination. All was confirmed last night.

Dougie Freedman spent a good deal of his career at Crystal Palace.  He also gained his only previous management experience before joint Bolton Wanderers at Selhurst Park.  So it is no surprise that Freedman knows the personnel at his former club well.  On the first day of the loan window Freedman used his connections down south to add to the Bolton midfield.

As we wrote earlier, the 26-year-old Irishman Owen Garvan was left off of Crystal Palace's 25-man Premier League Squad.  He basically had to go out on loan.  And given the timing, he could only go to a lower league side.  Whether this was the position Bolton need help in is debatable, but I choose to look at the bright side.  He can't do any worse than what we already have.

The loan deal is for three months, and will expire on December 10th.  Once again, Dougie has let a player go back to his parent club three weeks before we can make the signing permanent or get in a replacement.  Garvan will go into the squad this weekend, and be eligible to play in all Championship matches.  He already featured featured in the Capital One Cup for Palace, so will not be able to do so for Bolton.

Welcome to the northwest Owen.  We wish you the best of luck.
