MOTM: Bolton Wanderers v Derby County

Another embarrassing performance again on Saturday, back to what we are used to be quite honest, but who was our man of the match?

Ian Walton

There are next to no candidates for this prestigious award as we were  truly abysmal. I can recall from the game on Saturday two chances/shots, and a penalty save obviously, as the only positive aspects from Bolton's point of view.

There was so little to be positive about it almost hurts. The abject performance was embarrassing to say the least and I believe there is only one candidate, Andy Lonergan, if you say that it should be someone else you would find very little evidence to support that claim. Obviously no-one that played upfront or an attacking position: Liam Feeney, Chung-Yong Lee, Joe Mason, Craig Davies all were terrible , Neil Danns was half-decent but came on far too late to make much of an impact. Mark Davies,Owen Garvan and Jay Spearing were all pretty poor as well. As for the defense, Dean Moxey is an abysmal player, he was amongst the worst out there, Kevin McNaughton didn't do much apart from run after Jordon Ibe and give away a penalty. Matt Mills and Dorian Dervite seemed allergic to passing the ball on the floor.

Andy Lonergan, however, can walk away with some dignity, producing a superb penalty save early on from Chris Martin, who then went on to score a brace

Other than that it was really just a game of our team asking Derby how many goals they could be bothered to score. Surely time for Dougie Freedman to go?
