This morning Lion of Vienna Suite writer Liam O'Meara was contacted by a reader with a bit of titillating gossip for you all - Bolton Wanderers have made an approach to loan Aston Villa's Matthew Lowton.
Lowton, 25, can play in a number of defensive positions but is a natural right back.
The former Sheffield United defender joined Premier League outfit Villa in 2012 for £3m following spells on loan at Sheffield FC in 2008 and Ferencváros on loan in 2009 where he went on to make eighteen appearances before returning to United towards the end of the season.
He has fallen out of favour with under pressure Villa boss Paul Lambert, only making 15 appearances last season and just five this time out, and it is believed that Wanderers manager Neil Lennon fancies him to provide much-needed support for Bolton's defensive unit.
Where this leaves Josh Vela, Joe Riley and Kevin McNaughton is another matter, but if true then Lowton's versatility would be most welcome for the remainder of the season.
