MOTM: Ben Amos: Blackburn Rovers 1-0 Bolton Wanderers

Another late goal sees Lenny's men drop to a defeat as the season lurches towards a tedious ending

Bolton Wanderers suffered yet another late heartbreak last night, as Jordan Rhodes' 90th minute winner gave Blackburn Rovers a barely-deserved three points in what was a scrappy Championship fixture.

In order to give the coveted Lion of Vienna Suite Man of the Match trophy, I assessed certain factors:

1) The winner must be ginger;

2) The winner must not be a defender.

Therefore, ladies and gentlemen, our MOTM is none other than Ben Amos.

The on-loan Manchester United goalkeeper has put in some superb performances of late, none more so than last night when he repelled the efforts of the opposition for 90 minutes before being let down by some slack defending (not for the first time) and was beaten by Rhodes' strike.

According to BBC Sport, Amos fielded five on-target efforts, including making superb saves from Rudy Gestede and Tom Cairney, and prompting further calls from fans to make the loan deal permanent which, given the out-of-contract status' of Adam Bogdan, Andy Lonergan and Amos himself all the more interesting.

Let's hope on Saturday we can give the award to a striker instead. Preferably ours.
