Whites to face off against the Flying Donkeys!

Today Bolton Wanderers announced who their mystery opponents would be in the last pre-season game before the real action begins on August 8th.

The Whites will be keeping with in tradition by inviting European opposition to the Macron Stadium, by welcoming Serie A side Chievo Verona to sunny Lancashire.

The game will take place Friday 31st July, with kick-off being at 8:00PM.

One must say, I don't recognise too many names in the Chievo squad, with only the likes of Giannis Fetfatzidis and Ezequiel Schelotto, who are both on loan at the club, ringing any sort of bells. But with a grand total of THIRTY SEVEN players out on loan, there is really no telling who the Wanderers will be pitting them selves against come late July.

Currently managed by Rolando Maran, the wonderfully nicknamed Flying Donkeys finished a very respectable 14th in Serie A last season, on 43 points. This obviously saw them safely avoid relegation, by nine points, but also finish above clubs such as Udinese and Atalanta. They did finish a place and three points behind their city rivals, the great Luca Toni's Hellas, but they did get the better over them in a derby match earlier in the season.

So unless the club do arrange some friendlies in Austria, that all about concludes Bolton's pre-season plans for the summer, which reads:

Austria training camp
Friday 17 July v Morecambe (A), Globe Arena, 7.45pm
Tuesday 21 July v Oldham Athletic (A), Boundary Park, 7.45pm
Friday 24 July v Scunthorpe United (A), Glanford Park, 7.45pm
Tuesday 28 July v Port Vale (A), Vale Park, 7.30pm
Friday 31 July v Chievo Verona (H), Macron Stadium, 8pm
