Transfer Gossip: Sergi Enrich Deal May Yet Happen

An other striker might come to the club yet.

A new ray of hope has been shined upon a deal that appeared to be dead in the water, as rumoured long-term target, Sergi Enrich, gave an interview on Spanish TV claiming that he had received an offer from Bolton Wanderers.

Speaking to IB3, Enrich said:

"We were given the proposal some time ago, and even met. Personally I quite liked the offer but there are also others in Spain, and like it or not, the league (Championship) is an exciting competition,"

Interest in the Spaniard has been widely publicised and with Neil Lennon taking several scouting trips to Spain, it's highly likely that the manager has seen the joint top Segunda Division striker in action.

However, it did appear that all interest in Enrich, who knocked in 16 goals for Numancia last season, had cooled after Wanderers secured the signing of former Sheffield Wednesday striker, Gary Madine, especially since the pair seem to two strikers who play in a similar, physical style - with one just having quite a better goal record than the other.

The 25 year-old will be available on a free transfer this summer, and it remains to be seen if Bolton will indeed follow up on their interest.
