Globe Trotters: Three Called Up for International Qualifiers

Yep, there actually is a post-season international break.

The season may have finally ended for Bolton Wanderers as a whole, but for three Whites players, there's still more football to play.

Yes, the trio of Eidur Gudjohnsen, Adam Bogdan and Neil Danns will all have to put their holiday plans on hold, as they've been called up to represent their countries in their respective international qualifiers.

The last time The Iceman played for his country he scored a fine goal on his return, he'll be hoping to put himself even further ahead in the Icelandic record goalscorer chart as his nation take on Euro 2016 qualifying Group A leaders, Czech Republic, on June 12th, knowing full well that a victory will see them move up to first place in expense of the Czechs.

The still contractually undecided goalkeeper Adam Bogdan will have two games to try and force himself into Hungary's first team, ahead of former Liverpool 'keeper Peter Gulacsi. They will first host Lithuania in a friendly on Friday 5th June. They will then turn their attention to Euro 2016 qualification, as they travel to Helsinki to take on fourth placed Finland, on Saturday June 13th. Hungary will need to get a positive result against the Fins if they are to stand much chance of getting out of Group F and qualifying for the completion in France.

Finally, turning from European affairs to the global stage, as yes, World Cup 2018 qualification is well under way. Newly instated Guyanan, Neil Danns, may well make his World Cup debut for the Golden Jaguars, as they take on Saint Vincent and the Grenadines in a two legged qualifier. The first leg will be played away from home on Wednesday 10th June, with the return leg being contested four days later at the Providence stadium, on Saturday June 14th. The winner will progress to the third round of qualification and take a step closer to the (for now) Russian World Cup.

Else where, youngster Conor Wilkinson has again been summoned to the Republic or Ireland U21 squad, as they play the England U21s in a friendly on Friday June 5th.
