Darren Pratley is the New BWFC Captain

Just as we all expected.

Bolton Wanderers have today announced who will captain the team for the upcoming season, with the responsibility being bestowed upon Darren Pratley.

Pratley was the obvious choice and I believe the vast majority of Wanderers fans wanted to see him take the armband next year, with perhaps only Tim Ream his nearest competitor.

He no doubt secured the captaincy in the heats and minds of many when he burst in to defend his young team mate, Oscar Threlkeld, in the recent friendly against Sturm Graz.

The 30-year old midfielder, who signed a new three year deal at the Macron this summer, has made 117 appearances so far for the club, scoring nine times, and will add to his tally whilst leading the team next season.

Neil Lennon had this to say on the apportionment:

"Darren will be our captain this season," Neil Lennon told bwfc.co.uk. "I think he's the right age and he's well respected in the dressing room by the players.

"He's a consistent performer and he's coming into his peak years. I think he's ready for the responsibility."

Who'd have thought even just a year ago that Pratley would climb so high as to captain Bolton Wanderers?

Not me, that's for sure, but he more than deserves it.
