Bolton Wanderers and Optimism: An Age Old Rivalry

Being a lifelong Bolton Wanderers fan I have learnt one thing for sure, we're possibly one of the most pessimistic fan bases in England - for example; yesterday I had somebody legitimately try and tell me allowing Eidur to sign for Shijiazhuang Ever Bright in China is a sign that Lennon doesn't care about the club and lacks any ambition.

While I won't deny that we've had plenty of reasons to adopt this poisonous attitude given everything that's happened in the past five years, a little positivity goes a long way.

This of course stems from the recent Lennon to Leicester City debacle that's plagued the mind of every Wanderers fan - do I think Lennon will go?

I don't.

I think the rumours are mostly just bookie speculation which doesn't provide an accurate estimation of the likelihood of Lennon jumping ship whatsoever.

Lennon has built his foundation here at the Macron and while that foundation may be built out of wood and mud, it's a foundation nonetheless. If our lord and saviour truly wanted to jump ship then we wouldn't still be getting frequent updates about new signings like Derik Osede and the like.

I'd like to think I'm on the optimistic side of the Bolton fan base which definitely has its ups and downs but I'd implore our fans to try and have a little faith in the club they support. Lennon isn't gonna be any more convinced to stay if people think it's a foregone conclusion that he's going to Leicester anyhow.

We're not the best team in England but we're also not the worst, that's the charm of supporting this wonderful club.

Learn to love it and maybe things won't seem so bad.
