So We Need a Striker: The Choices

Chris takes a look at some potential striking options

So with this tweet from friend of the site Marc Iles, it got me a-thinking:

Supposing that we get £2m plus for our mate Tim Ream - who do we think would be likely options for Bolton Wanderers and manager Neil Lennon going forward? Here's half a dozen names for you to think about:

Fraizer Campbell - Crystal Palace

The former Manchester United, Sunderland and Tottenham Hotspur striker has fallen out of favour at Crystal Palace since Alan Pardew arrived. Has a decent pedigree and has played for England too.

Chances of joining - Decent.

Gary Hooper - Norwich City

Well known of course to Lenny from their time together at Celtic - it hasn't worked for Hooper as yet since joining Norwich and so a move to reunite with his former manager would definitely appeal.

Chance of joining - Probably better suited to moving on loan.

Glenn Murray - Crystal Palace

Linked with a move to former club Brighton this week, the 31 year old striker had a renaissance last season at Palace but their move to spend big on Connor could see Murray drop down the pecking order at Palace.

Chance of joining - Slim

Joe Garner - Preston North End

Preston fan Garner would be a tough signing to make given his loyalty to PNE and his importance to the club. Has scored a boatload of goals in League One and so would represent something of a risk.

Chance of joining - Slim to none

Carlos Fierro - C.D. Guadalajara

Absolutely mint on Football Manager. The young Mexican striker could be purchased for under £12m which seems entirely reasonable given our financial options. Guaranteed to score at least 30 goals per season after a year or two of bedding in.

Chance of joining - F all.

Kenwyne Jones - Cardiff City

Out of favour at Cardiff and with a decent pedigree (sound familiar?) - Jones spent time on loan at Bournemouth last season helping them to promotion and could be an interesting option for Wanderers especially with Lennon's preferred one-up-top formation.

Chance of joining - Dreadlocks.
