Who is Wellington Silva?

Guest writer, Danny West, tries and answers the question on the Arsenal forward.

After yesterday's guessing game, it was finally revealed that Arsenal forward Wellington Silva is the attacker that Neil Lennon is attempting to bring to the Macron Stadium. Now, you're probably like all of us at LoVS, and have never heard of Wellington/Silva (I bet he has the former on his shirt) so we found the one Bolton fan who does know a little bit, Danny West, and he's obliged to give us the very brief lowdown.

The floor is yours, Danny:

Recent speculation has been linking Bolton Wanderers with Arsenal youngster, Wellington Silva.

Silva is a 22-year old Brazilian, who predominantly plays on the wing but can also be utilised behind the striker. He is very quick and has a wide repertoire of skill.

Silva was invited over for a trial at Arsenal in 2008, despite having not played a first team game for current team Fluminense, while here in England he impressed Arsene Wenger and the Arsenal hierarchy scoring 4 goals in a youth game verses Norwich.

A year later in Decenber 2009 Arsenal made the deal permanent securing his services for £3.5 million, however, due to his age the deal couldn't be completed for another two years.

The youngster has spent the majority of his career in the Spanish second division, although his real breakthrough season came last year, whilst playing for Almeria in La Liga.

He was mainly deployed on the left hand side of midfield. With pace in abundance, the Brazilian has no aversion to taking a man on, mainly right footed, although he can use his left just as well. The Samba star is known to cut back inside when crossing and shooting. As well as playing outside,  he has also played the #10 role on a few occasions. In his 6 years as a professional footballer he has 132 appearances and scored 11 goals, most of which are bit parts for the smaller of the Spanish teams.

If the signing is ever finally announced, I think the Whites have got exactly the type of player they're desperate for.
