The football season is now only a few days away, and as such the LoVS writers have been tasked to put their credibility on the line and give their predictions for the year of football to come. Once the season is over and all the results are in, we'll gather them all up and see who did best!
Now it's the turn of Rob:
Championship Winners: Derby County
Second Place: Middlesbrough
Play-off winners: Brentford
Three relegated teams: MK Dons, Leeds United, Preston North End
Championship Top Goal Scorer: Jordan Rhodes
Best Player: Stewart Downing
Surprise Team: Bolton Wanderers, who will defy the doomsayers and not only avoid relegation but challenge for the playoffs
Three teams who'll gain promotion to the Championship: Swindon Town, Millwall, Bury Town
-
Premier League Winners: Chelsea
2nd, 3rd, 4th: Arsenal, Manchester City, Manchester United
Three relegated teams: Norwich City, Sunderland, Liverpool
Top goal scorer: Diego Costa, if his hamstrings survive for long enough. Failing that, Sergio Aguero
Best player: Hard to look beyond Eden Hazard for this
New signing who will flop: Raheem Sterling, hopefully
New signing who will succeed: Memphis Depay
Surprise Team: Swansea City, I fancy them to push for European places with a bit of luck
Champions League Winner: Obvious choice is Barcelona, but seeing as no team has ever won it two years in a row, I'm going to say Chelsea
Runner Up: Real Madrid, purely for the comedy of Mourinho v Benitez (and his wife) in the final
Top Goal scorer: Lionel Messi
La Liga Winners: Atletico Madrid, despite being the third favourites for the title you can get odds of 20/1 for Atleti to win it!
Bundesliga Winners: Bayern Munich, this league is barely a competition these days
Serie A Winners: Juventus, this is even less of a competition than the Bundesliga
Ligue 1 Winners: Monaco
Eredivise Winners: Ajax
Who'll score more, Messi or Ronaldo?: Cristiano Ronaldo
Your own bonus prediction: Pep Guardiola will replace Manuel Pellegrini after another trophy-less season at Manchester City.
