The football season is now only a few days away, and as such the LoVS writers have been tasked to put their credibility on the line and give their predictions for the year of football to come. Once the season is over and all the results are in, we'll gather them all up and see who did best!
Dan here, no doubt about to make a complete fool of myself:
Championship Winners: Derby County. All though their new manager, Paul Clement, is unproven as a boss, he has a wealth of football experience and has spent a lot of money this summer. It would be embarrassing if they didn't win the league.
Second Place: Hull City. It still depends on who else they sign, but Hull have a good, experienced squad and more importantly a manager who knows how to get out of this league.
Play-off winners: Brentford. The London team really could go either way this season, the board have taken a massive risk in dismissing Nigel Warburton and hiring _ instead. The players they've signed all have potential, but none have experience in England. It could go either way. But they are a fantastic footballing side and I believe they will reach the Premier League through the play-offs.
Three relegated teams: Bristol City, Brighton, Preston North End.
Championship Top Goal Scorer: If he stays, Charlie Austin. If not, Adam Le Fondre.
Best Player: Tom Ince
Surprise Team: Birmingham City. Under the stewardship of Gary Rowett, I think they'll nick 6th place.
Three teams who'll gain promotion to the Championship: Wigan Athletic, Burry, Barnsley.
-
Premier League Winners: Manchester United
2nd, 3rd, 4th: Chelsea, Arsenal, Manchester City
Three relegated teams: Sunderland, Leicester City, Watford.
Top goal scorer: Wayne Rooney
Best player: Eden Hazard, again
New signing who will flop: Christian Benteke
New signing who will succeed: Raheem Sterling
Surprise Team: Crystal Palace
-
Champions League Winner: Bayern Munich
Runner Up: PSG
Top Goal scorer: Cristiano Ronaldo
La Liga Winners: Barcalona
Bundesliga Winners: Bayern Munich
Serie A Winners: Juventus
Sorry for being boring...
Ligue 1 Winners: PSG
Eredivise Winners: Ajax
Who'll score more, Messi or Ronaldo?: Ronaldo.
Your own bonus prediction: Gareth Bale to finally get bored of Real Madrid fans and head but one.
