It would seem like Bolton Wanderers are finally getting a prince.
HITC (@HITCdealineday and their report can be read here) are reporting that Neil Lennon is trying to sign centre-back, wait for it, Prince-Désir Gouano on loan from Serie A side Atalanta.
The 21-year old Frenchman, who stands at 6ft2", has played for a number of clubs already in his short career. In 2011 he left Le Harve to join Italian giants Juventus, after spending time in the Juve youth team and out on loan, he was then given to Atalanta as part of the deal that took Luca Barlocco to Turin. He is yet to play for his new side, but spent last season on loan at Portuguese side Rio Ave, one home of Tope Obedeyi, playing 26 times.
The defender, who is comfortable in a back four or back three, has also played for France at u18s, u19s, and u20s level.
Rumours linking us with another player from Serie A comes as little surprise as the club have confirmed interest in former Cagliari right-back Francesco Pisano and denied interest in Parma striker Massimo Coda.
Whilst the apparent signing of Gouano are a little exciting, as he does look like a good prospect, I find the fact that we're looking to sign another centre back, just a day after Queens Park Rangers made a £1m bid for Tim Ream quite unsettling.
Hopefully he's just coming in to add more depth to an often injury plagued backline.
