As if Bolton Wanderers' goalscoring record of three goals in eight matches wasn't bad enough, the side has also failed to score a single goal from a corner, or indeed scored from a set-piece, this season.
Despite amassing 58 corners in all competitions - including eight in the game against Wolverhampton Wanderers, ten in the League Cup clash with Burton Albion and a ridiculous 13 at MK Dons - the welcome sight of a ball being swung in from a corner and being smashed home with a towering header has been painfully absent. Indeed, Wanderers are averaging 7.25 corners per match, with zero success.
It's not as if we don't have the players capable of scoring from corners, Gary Madine (lol), Prince, Dorian Dervite, Emile Heskey (yeah ok) and Darren Pratley - not to mention Matt Mills and Tim Ream last season - are all big lads who should have aerial prowess from set-pieces, but have somehow consistently failed. So maybe the problem is actually our corner takers, and of late these have included Liam Feeney (which would explain a lot), Wellington Silva, Stephen Dobbie and even Dean Moxey. So yeah, maybe that's where we're going wrong - or maybe we just need to sign David Beckham, Ronaldinho, Thierry Henry, Roberto Carlos or Alvaro Recoba... Enjoy.

This lean goalscoring spell got me thinking about records for teams not scoring from corners, and I found a few. Between 2011 and 2013 Newcastle United went 2 years, 78 matches and 375 corners without scoring, far surpassing Aston Villa's record of 42 matches without a goal from a corner in 2012. So maybe we have some way to go before we begin to get all emotional about this failure.
I can vaguely remember Bolton scoring from set-pieces: Matt Mills' header from a free-kick at Chelsea, Zach Clough scored a direct free-kick in last season's home clash with Wolves, and I think Mills did score from a corner at some point last season. But can you remember when Wanderers last scored from a corner?
