Transfer Gossip: Who is Igor Vetokele?

Wanderers linked with Charlton forward - but other than a funny name, what do we know about him?

Bolton Wanderers have been linked with Charlton Athletic's 23 year old Belgian-Angolan striker Igor Vetokele.

I'll confess, I know the name, but I know nothing about the player, the man, the myth or the legend.

Born in Ostend, he turned pro in 2010 having spent time with the youth teams at Oostende and Gent. Despite signing professional terms with the latter, he wouldn't make his full debut until the following year when he moved to Cercle Brugge.

Vetokele made his Cercle Brugge debut in September 2011, scoring his first goal a fortnight later. After nine goals in 38 appearances he went on to sign for FC Copenhagen where a two year spell yielded 16 goals in 43 games for the Danish club.

He joined Charlton in 2014 for £2.4m, scoring on his Championship debut, putting Charlton ahead in a 1-1 draw away at Brentford. His season at Charlton brought 11 goals in 38 games.

Vetokele then would suffer a bad achilles injury, which led to him struggling to regain his place by the start of the 2015/16 season, which prompted rumours of a loan move to Bolton in order to help him regain his fitness.

Not only this, but now we hear that he's not playing for Charlton tonight.....the plot thickens.
