News broke late Thursday night that Bolton Wanderers midfielder Mark Davies is set to move to fellow Championship side Sheffield Wednesday for a fee of £700,000.

Mark Davies has made 21 appearances for Bolton this season, scoring no goals.

From The Sun journalist Alan Nixon's (@reluctantnicko) twitter:

'Sheff Wed. Surprise signing tomorrow. Paper tomorrow hopefully. Midfielder. About 700k.'

'Bolton. Sheff Wednesday. Mark Davies on brink of shock move. More in paper tomorrow.'

News broke earlier this week that Bolton must find £2.2m by January 18th to wave off a winding up order issued by HMRC, with the threat of administration and a 12 point deduction hanging over them.

The fee is far from the supposed £5 million Swansea City were willing to pay back in 2012. However, 700k for one of the club's higher earners will no doubt help the club's finances.

Rumours will continue to circulate on the future of Bolton’s 1st team given the situation the club are in. Recently, Dorian Dervite has been linked to Wolverhampton Wanderers and Charlton Athletic and Dean Moxey to Wolves and Bristol City.

Zach Clough was also linked with a 750k move to Birmingham City, although it's thought they lost interest.
