Bolton 2-0 Millwall: Player Ratings

I love doing this when we play well

Bolton Wanderers easily beat Millwall 2-0 at the Reebok yesterday, and here are my Player Ratings:

Ben Alnwick - n/a

Legit n/a. Had nothing to do whatsoever, almost literally. According to the BBC Millwall had one shot on goal - I don't remember this happening.

Lawrie Wilson - 7

The engagement enabler had a superb game from the right. Worked really hard and might be disappointed with his crossing but was otherwise great.

Mark Beevers - 9.5

Another brilliant performance from the ex-Millwall defender. Won every header and was superb in his distribution. His excellence is becoming the new standard.

Derik Osede - 9

The former Real Madrid man isn't too familiar with centre half these days, but he was excellent yesterday. A smaller man than Beevers, but was no less dominant in the air. He is better on the deck than most of our squad and though he didn't get too much chance to pull strings fromI the back he barely wasted a pass.

Andrew Taylor - 9.5

The Wigan Athletic loanee's best game for the club. No question. He was great in all aspects of the game and can be very proud of his performance.

Jay Spearing - 9.5

The king of League One was sensational. His absence against Peterborough United last week was keenly felt, but this week he returned and was fantastic. Unlucky not to score with a brilliant header too. 0.5 points deducted for naff 'come on' gesture to the crowd.

Josh Vela - 10

I've written about him at length in my MOTM piece, but this was, by miles Josh Vela's best game for Bolton Wanderers. He dominated midfield and scored a goal that he will unlikely to better even if he plays until he's 50. Superb.

Liam Trotter - n/a

Was barely involved in the first half, barring earning a booking for a reckless tackle.

Sammy Ameobi - 8

Fast becoming one of my favourite players in this Bolton team. He's really slick going forward and puts in the hard yards when it comes to defensive work. By his standards it was more or less a perfect performance.

Zach Clough - 8.5

Quiet in front of goal, but busy otherwise. He was a real nuisance to the Millwall defence and earned his ovation when he was removed from the action in the second half.

Gary Madine - 7

Mr Marmite continues to divide opinion. Earned a standing ovation when he was subbed, which was generous in my eyes, but he has a role to play in this team and he continues to play it. Now up to no goals in 11 games, despite this.

Substitutes

Lewis Buxton - Unused

Dean Moxey - Unused

Jamie Proctor - n/a

Barely involved. No goals in 17 now for him.

Keshi Anderson - Unused

James Henry - 7

Few nice touches but not really involved.

Tom Thorpe - 7

Scored from a corner but was otherwise fairly quiet.

Jake Turner - Unused
