5 Free Agents Bolton Wanderers Should Sign

The lower league is full of gems and our squad is full of dross. See where I'm going here?

We're quickly approaching the end of the season and shock horror, we're going to get relegated to League 1. We'll see a number of first team players out of contract and be looking to sell high earners who we can no longer afford. We've already seen Liam Feeney moved on and attempts made to find a new home for Jay Spearing but who could replace them? Here are 5 bargain free agents from the Championship, League 1 and League 2 who could all do a job for us next year.

1. Daniel Bentley - Goalkeeper (League 1)

I know these are all names just plucked off some list because I think they're good but I really hope we sign this lad. Currently playing his trade for Southend (where a certain Mr. Brown currently works) he's arguably one of the best keepers in League 1 at the tender age of 22. He's publicly said he wont be signing a new deal but has already been attracting bigger names. Leeds United took a serious look in January and QPR have reportedly show interest. We'll be shifting Ben Amos on in the summer as well as that other shower of excrement who we call a sub keeper. He's gettable and should be first on that list.

2. Curtis Nelson - Centre Back (League 2)

My personal favourite of the entire list, another one I'm really, really hoping we have a go at signing. He's been playing consistently for Plymouth Argyle since they were in League 1. 232 appearances and Captain of his club, all at the age of 22! He has been captain for 2 consecutive promotion pushes and before that deputised during Plymouth's turmoil (much similar to our own). He's a leader, young, and a very talented defender to boot. I've seen him play a fair bit and I can honestly say he wouldn't look out of place in the Championship, let alone League 1. 100% try to sign.

3. Reda Johnson  - Left Back (League 1)

I hope we can keep hold of Moxey this year but I imagine he'll get interest from elsewhere. Reda Johnson has a wealth of experience at this level; he is tall, strong and a goal threat from defence. He suffered a bad injury at the start of the campaign whilst playing at centre back (in a Hayden White style switch) and the team noticeably suffered without him. If we're willing to gamble his injury won't hamper him after he returns to fitness, we'd get a great player for this league.

Callum Harriott - Left Wing (Championship)

The Charlton Athletic winger comes with a decent CV. England U19 youth international, made his debut for Charlton aged just 17 years and 1 month old.  He fell out of favour at fellow struggler's Charlton and was sent out on loan to League 1 Colchester United where he managed 5 goals in 20 games. He is the type of player we should be dealing in; he has potential, he's already experienced at this level and he'd be a player who we could make a bit of cash on if he did succeed. On top of all this he has pace which this team is sorely lacking and has to be fixed in the summer.

5. Graham Carey - Midfielder (League 2)

A second showing for Plymouth Argyle on my list, Carey plays mainly at Left Mid but his versatility is something to behold: He can play left back, left wing back, left midfield, right midfield, centre midfield and striker. He has a decent track record this year with 7 goals in 17 games for Plymouth mostly from left midfield. His set piece delivery and prowess from free kicks is something far beyond what you'd expect from a player in League 2. He is a Celtic youth product who has had a spell in League 1 with Huddersfield. Crossing is described as 'stunning'. Another decent, cheap buy who'd tick a lot of boxes for us in League 1.
