Exclusive: Brunskill Leaves as Redundancies Begin at Bolton Wanderers

Hot topic

We have today been informed that Bolton Wanderers will commence a huge cutback of staff at the club in the next couple of days, with Under 21 Head Coach Iain Brunskill being the first major name amongst those leaving.

With chairman Ken Anderson and chief exec Dean Holdsworth reported to be at loggerheads, with the latter currently away from the club on medical grounds, Brunskill represents the type of sacrifice that the new regime will be making in order to cut our cloth to fit in League One.

Appointed in November 2014, Brunskill replaced Jamie Fullarton and was a former Liverpool academy director.

He led the Under 21s to a sixth placed finish in the U21 Professional Development League 2 table with 37 points from 30 games.

His side lost just once in their final five games to finish above Leeds United, Crewe Alexandra, Coventry City, Sheffield Wednesday and Barnsley, throwing concern over the downgrade of our facilities into a tin hat.

Our guy tells us that there will be more announced in the coming days. Fingers crossed for Darren Pratley.
