Your Lion of Vienna Suite Bolton Wanderers Player of the Season - Rob Holding

So the season has ended and we know that Bolton Wanderers are officially now a League One side.

That embarrassment aside, it's also time for us at Lion of Vienna to award our Player of the Season. In previous years we have had a group conversation amongst the writing team, and come to a decision that way. This season however we put it to the public vote, and we are very grateful to every respondent who took part.

The decision has been made, and the winner of the 2016/17 Lion of Vienna Suite Bolton Wanderers Player of the Season is none other than Rob Holding.

Honourable mentions go to second placed Liam Feeney, now of Ipswich Town, and Derik Osede who caps a decent first season at the club with a third placed finish. If you voted for Dean Moxey or Dorian Dervite then to be honest I've no idea what you even are.

Back onto Holding.

The 20 year old Tameside native only made his Bolton debut back in August against Burton Albion in the League Cup, but he has grown from a part-time right back option to a guaranteed lock in the centre of defence.

His calm demeanour and assured confidence deserved better than the shamble around him, but his performances have been consistent and impressive, for such a young lad.

Not bad eh?

Congratulations Rob. Let's hope that going forward we continue to produce young talent such as Holding and that his peers can use his rise as an inspiration for their own career.
