Despite impressing on loan at Plymouth Argyle and upon his return to his parent club, the powers that be at Bolton Wanderers decided to release the youngster at the end of his contract this summer.
Appearances - 3
Threlkeld played three of the last four games of the Bolton season, particularly impressing in both midfield and at centre-back, in the season finale at Fulham. It seemed inevitable this would earn him at least a new contract offer, but this bizarrely failed to materialise.
Goals Conceded - 3 (1 per game)
Threlkeld's record of only one goal conceded per game he played in was the joint best defensive ratio of any defender at the club - albeit from three matches.
Review
Wanderers won only one point with Threlkeld in in the side, in the 0-0 draw with Charlton, but his performances generally suggested he could contribute in League One.
Points won per game - 0.33
Pass completion rate - 65.4%
Bookings - 0
Red cards - 0
Overall Season Performance - B
Threlkeld certainly has plenty of promise and I believe he should have been given a chance to prove it at the club next season. As it is, he will no doubt earn a contract elsewhere - possibly back at Plymouth.
