A Season in Statistics Player-By-Player: Alex Samizadeh

Bolton's great hope made his first-team debut and seems to be sticking around for next season

Two young forwards have commanded the fascination of Bolton Wanderers fans more than any others this season, but only one of them remains at the club.

17-year-old Alex Samizadeh made his first-team debut ahead of fellow young hopeful Jamie Thomas this season, and looks set to stay on for the League One campaign.

Appearances - 1

The youngster came on late in the 3-1 defeat at Brentford in March, but for whatever reason has not added to that single appearance. This has led many to speculate that he was given an obligatory appearance so Wanderers could command a bigger fee if/when the forward moves on to another club in the summer.

Goals Scored - 0

He has only played for five minutes.

Overall Season Performance - B

It's ridiculous to judge a 17-year-old who has played five minutes for the first-team, but what is clear is that Samizadeh has bags of potential. Since arriving at Bolton in November 2014 he's scored goals for fun in both the Under 18 and Development Squads, scoring on his debut for the latter to earn a draw against Cardiff City in September.

Hopefully we can hold onto him this summer and give him a chance in League One next season.
