Our Euro 2016 Predictions: Tom (DowntheMannyRd)

Now it's Tom's go

How far will England get?

I'm going to go for a respectable quarter final defeat. We've got a few promising attacking options but we're too weak as a back 4 and in midfield to beat the best sides in the tournament.

Your England Starting XI:

I think Roy will stick to the diamond formation that worked against Germany:

Clyne Cahill Smalling Bertrand
Milner Henderson
Vardy Kane

Who'll score more, Kane or Vardy?

Kane. He scores goals from nothing. Like Sherringham, only I think he could go on to be better.

Will Hodgson remain as manager after the Euros?

No. He was the ideal choice in 2012, but I think it needs a new approach with the younger players coming through (Forster, Stones, Bertrand, Alli, Kane, Rashford).
How far will Wales get?

Might squeeze through as one of the third placed teams. Can't get very far with an average team built around one world class talent.

Top Scorer:

Has to be Bale.

How far will Ireland get?

Lucky to be there and placed in a nightmare group. Bottom of the group with a point against Sweden.

Top Scorer:

Shane Long. I rate him.

How far will Northern Ireland get?

A similarly horrible group for them. Bottom of the group. Don't think the green and white army will be too bothered about that, though.

Top Scorer:

Kyle Lafferty. Like David Healy, he seems to score goals for fun for Norn Iron.
Competition Winners:

France. Even without Varane, they've got so many talented young players, older players hitting the form of their lives, and home advantage.

Runner Up:

I've got Spain to finish second. The sqaud has peaked collectively but they're still unreal on their day.

Final Four:

Germany, France, Spain, Italy.

Surprise Team:

Poland to make the quarter finals. Possibly Austria if they get Russia in the last 16.

Flop Team:

Portugal are always good for a miserable failure, aren't they?

Second Team:

Northern Ireland.

Any successes for the home nations?

I think with the squad England have, the quarter finals can be considered a success. Same if Wales sneak out of the group stage.

Office sweepstake team?

To be confirmed. Waiting for all the money to come in first.

Golden Boot:

Surprise Player:

Would Dimi Payet be a surprise? If that doesn't count, I fancy Harry Kane to be England's player of the tournament.

Flop Player:

Cristiano always struggles with the weight of carrying Portugal. Zlatan is my bet, though.

First Pundit to Say Something Stupid:

Andy Townsend. Probably something about the local economy in Marseille.

When will Liam stop supporting Ireland and start supporting England again?

When the sun rises in the West.

Your own bonus prediction:

Wayne Rooney to score from the bench against Russia, be rewarded with a starting place ahead of Vardy for the remainder of the tournament. Won't score another goal.
