Last night I went to see Bolton Wanderers Under 21s secure a 2-1 win over non-league Stafford Rangers.
I've already written about the triallists on display, but I was intrigued to see our latest saviour, the new Snorrason/Jamie Thomas if you will, your friend and mine Mr Alexander Samizadeh.
The Internet loves him. Apart from that time they hated him when he was spotted looking around Derby County's training ground earlier in the year.
I can understand this bromance, given the absence of reliable forwards in our squad and so I was keen to see whether the hype was justified.
I am happy to report that I found a pacy yet diminutive goalscorer who had a decent game against some big centre halves.
He has very good feet and his movement is very encouraging, took his goal well enough after some good work down the left channel and firing through the keepers legs at the near post. Is he ready for the first team?
In short, no.
He may well be useful against lesser opponents in late game situations, but not as a player that we can rely on to get us the goals for promotion just yet.
But he is only 17, be patient.
