It has been rumoured today that new Bolton Wanderers manager Phil Parkinson has personally invited former Wanderer David Wheater to join the club for pre-season training.
Wheater left the club following his part in our relegation from the Championship not a few weeks ago.
It seems that Parkinson's liking for the former Middlesbrough man coupled with the indifference to other teams making an effort to sign him have combined to bring the big-chinned chap back to Bolton.
Personally I'm indifferent to him returning, and would prefer Wanderers to cut the cord with players who had a large hand in our failings last season.
That said, if we could entice him back on a HUGELY reduced salary then he could be important back-up to younger defenders around him.
Whether he is training with us to earn a contract or to keep himself fit until Wigan Athletic sign him remains to be seen, but it's an interesting development.
