Not that I am wanting to sound all doom and gloom writing my first piece for this great site.... But with the gossip that Darren Pratley could potentially be leaving us, why not look at a couple of options that Phil Parkinson should AVOID making as the new captain?
Here we go:
Dean Moxey
He may have the experience to act like a captain, I feel that every time I see him play he acts like the spoilt little kid who only wants to play his way.
Don't get me wrong, on his day (few and far between) he can be a real asset to the team. We need a captain who will lift the younger players around him, not slating them for a mistake that technically wasn't anything to do with that player (Tom Walker in the firing line against Bristol City if my memory serves me right)
Dorian Dervite
Next!!!
Josh Vela
Now I am a big fan of Vela. Under Lennon he never managed to set in a single position. Given a run in the midfield in League One he should shine but let him focus on the job at hand.
He's not someone who you would see running around barking orders and giving encouragement to the rest of the team. So I would not consider him to be captain material....Yet
Jay Spearing
Spearing does have the ability to captain the side, but for me he will struggle to hold down a starting game week in week out. He gives you 110% which is fantastic but lacks the ability to change a game or to potentially inspire the players around him
Gary Madine
It would be a laugh if he did captain the side!!
Now I'm actually fairly optimistic about the new season. So lets hope who ever is the new Bolton Wanderers captain can lead this team to promotion!
Let me know your thoughts in the comments box of who SHOULDN'T be captain!
