Bolton Wanderers 1 - 1 MK Dons - Man of the Match: Mark Beevers

Jonny’s handed this week’s coveted LOV MOTM award to his new love, Mark Beevers (a.k.a Baevers)

Sigh. It’s Monday. I’m working the last week of my notice before I start a new job and, to be honest, I’m still pissed off that we didn’t win on Saturday.

We’re a very good side in this league; a big fish in a small pond, you might say. When we won on the opening day, despite being second best for the majority of the game, I was filled with confidence at the fact that we seemingly knew how to manage a game and kill it off when necessary. Alas, it seems I was wrong.

Three draws on the bounce is not promotion form. Dan, Chris, Tom Wilson and I discussed this on the LOVpod last night - these results could cost us towards the end of the season. We were lucky to get a point against Charlton, granted, but we should’ve beaten Southend last weekend and steamrollered MK Dons in the first half alone on Saturday. A couple more goals before half time and they would’ve crumbled.

I don’t think anyone was particularly outstanding against MK, so I’m going to give the Man of the Match award to Mark Baevers again, narrowly beating Mark Howard to the gong. He really is a rock at the back, our Baevers, and I thought he was outstanding once again at the weekend. He took his goal really well - cracking finish for a centre half. In off the bar too, which always makes a goal look exciting. Saturday’s game against Walsall will be a test - I’m interested to see whether or not he’s as good as I think he is without the defensive screen that is Jay Spearing. We shall see.

Still unbeaten. Still top of the league.

Viva Phil Parkinson. Onwards and upwards.
