Marc Iles has reported that Bolton Wanderers are close to agreeing a deal for former Blackburn Rovers U21 captain, Sam Lavelle. The youngster who is capped by Scotland at youth level was released by Blackburn at the end of the last season.
The official Blackburn Rovers site describes Lavelle as:
"A central defender with good touch and technique, he was one of the standout performers as Rovers reached the final of the U21 Premier League Cup in 2015"
The 19 year old will probably go straight in to the development squad before challenging for the first team. Lavelle will be challenging the in form duo of Mark Beevers and David Wheater for a starting spot as well as Dorian Dervite when he returns from injury. Iles has reported the new management see Derik as more of a midfielder.
This basically confirms that there is more wriggle room with the transfer restrictions than previously thought. We supposedly were working within the confines of a one in, one out policy but that is now seen to not be the case.
