Bolton Wanderers 0-0 Bradford City - Man Of The Match: Mark Beevers

Jonny's had to choose our towering defender again for this week's accolade, and for good reason

The Bolton News

I know I sound like a broken record here, but Mark Beevers has been our best player this season by a country mile.

Saturday was shit. I never thought I'd say this but we really miss Darren Pratley in midfield, and you all know how I feel about Gary Madine. It's actually becoming a chore to watch our piss poor performances, particularly in front of goal.

Whilst the majority of our problems are up top, we were pretty solid at the back against the Bantams. Bradford didn't really have many chances, and when they did, Mark Howard was equal to them. As I've already said, Beevers has been our best player this season; only just beating Jay Spearing and the aformentioned Howard to the gong - it's nice to see a pretty solid defensive unit wearing white shirts for once.

Back to Saturday - Beevers was outstanding once again. He was fantastic in the air and provided some great cover for both Buxton and Moxey on numerous occasions. If I'm honest, he's probably too good for this level - it's a crying shame he hasn't played higher for a large period of his career.

It's very difficult to draw positives from a game in which we were so poor going forward, but I take pride in the fact that we've managed to keep a clean sheet, so we must be doing something right.

On to the next one.
